Dawn’s career on stage started at six years of age as a young ballerina. Throughout the next 20 years, Dawn lived and breathed ballet, as a performer, choreographer and teacher. She danced in the Nutcracker Suite and spent summers training in San Francisco. She went on to earn an Extended Minor in Dance at Simon Fraser University.
After moving to the Kootenays with her husband and three children, Dawn needed a new challenge and decided to try her “voice” at musical theatre. So, in 2006, she joined the RLOP as a chorus member on the good ship, HMS Pinafore. The experience left a very positive impression and she soon went on to join the Executive,serving as a Director, then Secretary and she is now in her second term as President.
Along with chorus work, she has performed as Mother Abbess in “The Sound Of Music” and Angelique LeBeau in “It Happened One Night At The Opera“. She has also been very involved behind the scenes doing publicity, choreography, producing, set painting and more.
Dawn is looking forward to spending many more rewarding years promoting musical theatre in the Kootenays.
