The Reluctant Dragon!
 
St. George, a semi-retired dragon slayer, has been summoned to rid the town of a terrible threat. A wannabe mayor fans the flames of fear to advance his political career. The village folk will do anything to get out of a day’s work… Meanwhile, the peace-loving Dragon would sooner recite Shakespeare than fight.
 
Don’t miss this is fun-filled, comedic musical, written by Eliott Baker and based on the short story by Kenneth Grahame. It will have audiences of all ages roaring with laughter from start to finish.
 
Performance dates:
April 21, 22 – Rossland Summit School
April 29 – Stanley Humphries Secondary School
May 5, 6 – JL Crowe Secondary School

Musicians — looking for a challenge? Want to play for a fun stage show?

A pianist, bass player (doublebass preferred) and drummer needed to accompany the Rossland Light Opera Players’ next production — The Reluctant Dragon.

Must be familiar with, or willing to learn all styles – Broadway, swing, country and ragtime. Piano score is Royal Conservatory of Music level 9 difficulty.

Shows will be in late April/early May.

The Rossland Light Opera Players are pleased to announce our Mainstage Production 2017: The Reluctant Dragon. It’s not your average fairy tale!

“St. George, a semi-retired dragon slayer, has been summoned to rid the town of a terrible threat. A wannabe mayor fans the flames of fear to advance his political career. The village folk will do anything to get out of a day’s work… Meanwhile, the peace-loving Dragon would sooner recite Shakespeare than fight.”

Channel your inner thespian (or dragon slayer) and come out for auditions! We will be looking for actors of all ages. Show dates will be late April and early May.

Read-through on Monday, November 28th at 6:30pm.

Cast auditions on Tuesday, November 29th at 6:30pm and Thursday, December 1st at 6:30pm. Come prepared to sing a cappella! (You may bring your own song selection, or you will be asked to sing “O Canada” or “Happy Birthday.”)

Read through and auditions will be held at the RLOP Hall, located at 2054 Washington Street in Rossland.

]]> The RLOP Hall gets a face lift! http://rlop.ca/2013/08/the-rlop-hall-gets-a-face-lift/ Mon, 12 Aug 2013 16:56:47 +0000 http://rlop.ca/?p=1342 The Rossland Light Opera Players applied for and received a grant from the Heritage Legacy Fund of BC to assist in the re-painting and restoration of the exterior of the RLOP building in Rossland. Ken Turner of Rossland Paintworks has been contracted to do the work. Most of the work has been completed. Some restoration work on the bottom of the front wall has yet to be completed by Tom and Sue Buckley. A marquis box for the display of coming attractions is being built and will be installed on the outside of the building. Ken has restored the RLOP sign and jester and has put back the Bodega hotel sign to indicate the building’s heritage.

The Heritage Legacy Fund is sending a banner to publicize their participation in the project.

Although not part of the re-painting project, Janis Anderson is redecorating the display window to coordinate with the rest of the building.
